Kano, Nigeria — Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has dismissed two of his Senior Special Assistants following separate findings of misconduct by investigative panels. The affected officials are Abubakar Umar Sharada, Senior Special Assistant on Political Mobilisation, and Tasiu Adamu Al’amin Roba, Senior Special Assistant in the Cabinet Office.
According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Farouk, Sharada was implicated in facilitating the controversial bail of a suspected drug kingpin, Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu. Findings from a Special Investigative Committee confirmed his direct involvement in the process, leading to his dismissal.
In a separate case, Roba was found to have illegally rebagged and diverted palliative grains meant for vulnerable residents of the state. He was arrested in 2024 and has since been arraigned in court on charges of theft and criminal conspiracy.
Both men have been ordered to return all government property in their possession no later than Monday, August 11, 2025, and warned against parading themselves as officials of the current administration.
The state government, however, cleared Hon. Musa Ado Tsamiya, Special Adviser on Drainages, of any wrongdoing after investigations found no evidence linking him to misconduct.
Governor Yusuf reiterated his administration’s commitment to discipline, transparency, and zero tolerance for corruption, warning public officials to uphold the highest standards of integrity in both official and personal conduct.
Earlier this week, the State’s Commissioner for Transportation, Ibrahim Namadi, resigned after being indicted over his role in the same controversial drug baron bail case.
