Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has debunked reports suggesting he has already declared his political ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections. The clarification comes after his recent appearance on TVC’s program Beyond The Headlines, which sparked speculations about a possible governorship or senatorial bid.
Obasa made it clear that he has not announced any official move regarding his political future, stressing that such decisions rest with the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC). “As a politician, you must always align with the party’s direction. Whether it’s as a lawmaker, governor, or senator, the hierarchy of the APC will decide. People should not misinterpret or spread false information. Our priority is moving Nigeria forward,” he said.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, noting the progress being made daily. While assuring that he is not quitting politics anytime soon, Obasa emphasized the importance of party unity and discipline in shaping future ambitions.
“Nigeria is our home, APC is our strength, and we continue to grow stronger as a family. Ambition must be guided by consultation, discipline, and the collective decision of our leaders,” he added.
