Pastor Adeboye Reveals How and When He Believes He Will Pass Away

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has shared a personal belief about how and when his life will come to an end. Speaking during the church’s 73rd Annual Convention, the respected cleric said he thinks his passing will happen on a Sunday, right after church service and his favourite meal of pounded yam.

The event, themed “The Overcomers”, took place at Redemption City, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. Addressing thousands of worshippers, Pastor Adeboye described the moment he envisions:

“It will be on a Sunday. I will attend service, dance with joy, go home, enjoy pounded yam, and then go,” he said.

He also made it clear that his statement should not be questioned, noting that death does not always follow sickness.

In a sermon titled “Possess Your Possession”, Pastor Adeboye encouraged Christians to actively claim the blessings God has promised them. Using the biblical example of the Israelites entering the Promised Land, he said believers must sometimes fight spiritually for what already belongs to them.

On healing, he reminded the congregation that Jesus paid the price for their good health and urged them to reject sickness.

On prosperity, he declared that poverty is not God’s plan for His people, stressing that God owns all wealth and desires His children to live in abundance.

He also prayed for fruitfulness and long life, warning that the devil tries to cut lives short, but believers can resist through faith.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Pastor Adeboye urged the younger generation of Christians to hold firmly to their faith, resist spiritual attacks, and remain committed to God’s promises.
