Students of Nupe extraction at the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State, have taken cultural preservation to a new level by producing a movie that celebrates the richness of Nupe traditions.
The project was unveiled during the institution’s Student Cultural Day, an annual event that allows students to showcase the values, traditions, and artistry of their various ethnic groups.
Speaking at the event, representatives of the Nupe Student Union emphasized that the movie was not just about entertainment but also aimed at passing down cultural knowledge to younger generations.
“We want to remind ourselves and educate others about the uniqueness of the Nupe culture. This movie is our way of telling our own story,” one of the student leaders said.
Observers at the event praised the initiative, noting that using modern platforms like film can help preserve culture while making it relatable to wider audiences.
