FG Opens 3 Major Job and Loan Opportunities for Nigerian Youths, Academics, and Civil Servants

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced fresh job and loan opportunities designed to empower young people, civil servants, and academics across the country. The initiatives align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s promise to upskill the Nigerian workforce, create jobs, and improve welfare nationwide.

Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Youths and Workers

Since taking office, President Tinubu has emphasized his commitment to build a Nigeria where workers and young professionals can reach their full potential. According to the presidency, this will be achieved through reskilling, upskilling, and targeted empowerment programmes that prepare citizens for existing and future jobs.

The government has projected millions of new jobs in line with Tinubu’s campaign pledge to revive the economy and create opportunities for Nigerian youths.

Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF) – Interest-Free Loans

On Thursday, August 14, the FG launched the Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF).

This scheme provides up to ₦10 million in interest-free loans for both academic and non-academic staff of tertiary institutions. The loan can be used for:

Housing projects

Medical expenses

Transportation needs

Small businesses

Professional training

Unveiled in Abuja by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, the initiative targets 248 institutions nationwide, aiming to improve staff welfare, boost retention, and enhance institutional performance.

YouthCred Scheme – Free Loans for Young Nigerians

Another opportunity is the YouthCred loan programme, a no-collateral credit scheme for:

NYSC members

Young professionals

Youth entrepreneurs

The online portal for YouthCred is now open. Beneficiaries can access flexible loans while also receiving training in financial literacy to encourage responsible borrowing.

The programme is powered by CrediCorp in partnership with NYSC, and is part of efforts to transform Nigeria’s credit culture while enabling youths to contribute meaningfully to economic growth.

Recruitment of Permanent Secretaries

The Federal Government has also begun the process of appointing five new permanent secretaries into the federal civil service.

According to a circular from the Office of the Head of Service (HoS) of the Federation, the new appointments will cover:

Imo State

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

Three rotational zonal positions (North-Central, North-East, and South-East)

Eligibility requirements:

Must be directors on Grade Level 17 in the federal civil service

Verified on the IPPIS portal as confirmed staff

Must have served at least two years as directors

Must not be due for retirement before December 31, 2026

Proof of indigeneship required

This recruitment drive aims to strengthen governance, especially in the newly established ministries.
