INEC Announces Continuous Voter Registration in 811 Centres Nationwide
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise will take place in 811 centres across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to Sam Olumekun, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, the CVR will begin with online pre-registration on August 18, 2025, followed by in-person registration on August 25, 2025.
Both processes will run simultaneously for one year until August 30, 2026.
INEC will deploy an online CVR Live Locator to help Nigerians easily find their nearest registration point. The locator, which will go live on August 17, can be accessed at:

Olumekun revealed that the 811 in-person centres include:
All 774 local government areas
All 36 state INEC offices
The FCT office in Abuja
A 38-page document listing the addresses of all registration centres has been uploaded to the INEC website and other official platforms. Each state also has dedicated help desk phone numbers for further inquiries. Olumekun assured Nigerians that the CVR procedures remain the same as in 2022, with detailed guidelines and video tutorials to be released next week.
Following the July 23 update on party registration requests, INEC has received eight additional applications, bringing the total to 151 associations seeking registration as political parties.
The commission has begun shortlisting eligible groups to proceed to the application stage, with more details to be released after the August 16 bye-elections in 12 states.
