A Nigerian nurse has left many people in tears after sharing the heartbreaking final words of one of her patients. The nurse, known on TikTok as @abiclein, recounted her emotional encounter in the hospital, explaining how deeply it affected her.

According to her, the patient, whose health had already deteriorated, looked at her with pleading eyes and said:

“Hold my hands and tell me I won’t die.”

Those words, she explained, pierced her heart in a way she could not describe. Even though nurses are trained to be strong in the face of patients’ struggles, hearing such raw vulnerability from someone at the edge of life left her broken.

The nurse’s post quickly went viral, with thousands of people responding by sharing their own painful experiences with loved ones in their final moments.

For Chris❤️, it brought back the memory of losing his mother 16 years ago. He said:

“My mum told me to take care of my siblings, that I will never lack anything in life. It has been 16 years since she passed, but those words still echo in my heart.”

Another woman, Mabel❤️🎀, remembered the chilling request of a friend during childbirth complications. According to her, the friend said:

“Nurse, don’t allow my husband to take my baby. Tell him I lost the baby during CS, and give the child to my friend to take to an orphanage.”

Sadly, she did not survive.

For Ewura_phany, the memory was more spiritual. She recounted how her devout Catholic mother asked her to pray the Rosary together.

“We started reciting it, but when we got to ‘Amen,’ I was the only one who said it. She could not finish her favorite prayer. That was her last moment.”

A young man, Prince 🤴, shared the loss of his best friend, who always called him “Future.” His friend begged him to stay by his side.

“He asked me to record a video with him. He started crying in the video, repeating my name, ‘Future, Future, Future, one love my bro.’ Minutes later, he gave up and passed.”

Another heartbreaking story came from nharnharadjoa, who recalled her mother’s plea.

“She begged the nurse to call me because she wanted to say something. When I arrived, she told me: Anita, remember I love you. I’ll always love you. If heaven gave me a second chance, I’d never fall sick and stress you, but I have no choice. Tell your siblings I love them. Then she said goodbye.”

For Chidinma🫶, the experience was even more haunting.

“My mother told me, ‘Go and sleep, Ada, I want to rest small.’ I was so happy because she had been coughing blood for days. I thought she would finally get some sleep. But when I woke up two hours later, she was gone. I kept telling her, ‘Mama, thank God the cough has stopped,’ not realizing she had already left us.”

And for Ahm Ella💋, the memory has never left.

“My mom told me, ‘Ima, I want to eat oil rice. I don’t want to die with an empty stomach.’ I quickly cooked it, but she never got the chance to eat. She died in my arms. I was just 15 years old. That day broke me forever.”

Moments like these reveal how fragile life is and how much weight a dying person’s words carry. For many, these last statements become memories etched permanently in their hearts — sometimes inspiring strength, sometimes leaving behind lifelong pain.

In a related story, Legit.ng had earlier reported another nurse’s experience. A patient who had survived surgery still passed away shortly after, but not before making one final request — a simple glass of water. That request, ordinary as it seemed, became his last words.

The viral post by Nurse @abiclein has touched thousands because it reminds people of the emotional reality of healthcare workers who witness death regularly, but also because it resonates with anyone who has lost a loved one. It shows that in those final moments, people often don’t ask for riches, power, or possessions — instead, they seek comfort, love, and reassurance.

Life is fragile, and the final words of loved ones often carry deep meaning that lasts forever. For those who have experienced such moments, these memories remain treasures and scars at the same time.
