Nigerian social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has drawn public attention to the case of Precious Olurotimi, a 22-year-old graduate of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), who lost one of her hands following a collision with a truck reportedly linked to the Dangote Group.
According to VDM, the driver involved was allegedly unlicensed, and representatives from the company visited the victim after the accident, took photos, and left without returning.
In a video message, he criticised the company for failing to take responsibility:
“This young woman’s future has been shattered. Her parents invested in her education, only for one reckless driver to destroy her dreams. The least the company can do is take full responsibility and support her recovery.”
VDM has a history of speaking up in similar cases. Earlier this year, he championed the cause of BBNaija star Phyna’s sister, who lost a leg in another incident involving a Dangote truck. That case gained traction and eventually led to compensation for the victim.
Public Reactions
Many Nigerians online expressed outrage, urging the Dangote Group to act quickly. Some demanded that the company cover Olurotimi’s medical bills and provide her with long-term support. Others noted that similar accidents have occurred multiple times without adequate follow-up.
